OMHA SUPPORTS NORFOLK/SIX NATIONS AMALGAMATION
Thank you to our members for demonstrating your support for Six Nations joining the Norfolk Minor Hockey partnership.   Further to this support, the OMHA advised that full approval of our partnership will be considered for the 2025/2026 season.

In the meantime, we are excited to announce that the OMHA Board has approved an “Emergency Accommodation” to support immediate cooperation between Norfolk Minor Hockey and Six Nations Minor Hockey.

In the meantime, we are excited to announce that the OMHA Board has approved an “Emergency Accommodation” to support immediate cooperation between Norfolk Minor Hockey and Six Nations Minor Hockey.

Under these special measures, Six Nations will not host representative teams and the following will apply for Six Nations players seeking representative hockey opportunities for the 2024/2025 season:

Six Nations players will be considered residentially compliant for the purposes of participation in Representative Programming with Norfolk Minor Hockey for the 2024/2025 season. All other OMHA Regulations apply.

What does this mean?

Six Nations players WILL be eligible to tryout and be rostered to Norfolk Minor Hockey rep teams as residentially complaint players. That is, they can try out for all levels of Norfolk representative programming (e.g. “A” or “BB/C” rep teams) on a FULL and EQUAL basis. They will NOT be considered “non-resident players” and therefore will NOT be limited to three NRP roster positions. There will be NO restriction to the number of Six Nations players that can be rostered to a Norfolk rep team.

All other OMHA regulations will apply means the following:

1 – Six Nations players wishing to tryout for Rep Hockey in another OMHA A or AA Base Category Center, or for Alliance A/AA teams, may do so using the current NRP process

2 – Six Nations players wishing to utilize OMHA Regulation 3.5 may do so to participate at the next closest OMHA center to their residence

3 – Six Nations players AAA zone affiliation (Brantford) will remain unchanged

Above items 1-3 are applicable to the 24/25 season only.

We look forward to bringing Norfolk and Six Nations players together for a successful 2024/2025 season. Norfolk/Six Nations tryouts will be held in May 2024 for next season. Our executives are working diligently on such plans and will share further information on executive cooperation and programming opportunities very soon.
